Carl LaRoye "Sonny" Tooman
Carl LaRoye was born in Carnegie December 29, 1922 and is the youngest child and only son of Mr. and Mrs. W.S. Tooman.
With the exception of about two months spent at Weslaco, Texas, he has spent his entire school life grappling for knowledge in the Carnegie schools.
Sonny started playing football at the tender age of two, but did not encounter much opposition until he was in highschool.
Besides football, he participated in baseball, basketball, boxing, boys' chorus and was senior class vice president. He gave up his part in the senior play to accept a position with one of Uncle Sam's defense factories in Sheffield, Ala.
One of Sonny's ambitions is to be a famous baseball catcher. He also has others--he keeps them to himself.
