Funeral services for Melissa Ann Grantham, 26, of Lexington were held Tuesday, April 19 at 4 p.m. at Acona Methodist Church near Lexington. Rev. Mike O’Brien and Rev. Oscar Twitchell officiated with interment in the Acona Cemetery.
Miss Grantham, a native of Holmes County, died April 17 in an automobile accident on 1-55 at I-20.She was returning to Lexington from her nursing job at Carter’s Guest Home in Jackson.
She was a 1980 graduate of Central Holmes Academy in Lexington, a 1982 graduate of Holmes Junior College in Goodman and received a second degree in nursing from Holmes Junior College in 1984. Melissa was a member of Acona United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gresham Grantham, Jr. of Lexington; one brother, Charles Grantham of Lexington; grandfathers, James Cox of Lexington and Gresham Grantham of Greenwood: and great-grandmother, Myrtle Cox of Lubbock, Texas.
Pallbearers were Robert Wayne Carnathan, Bill Herring, Rob Nichols, Wayne Ray, James Self and James McCrory.
