Smith Stroud Died Wednesday Night.
Smith Stroud died at his home north of Brashear Wednesday night, August 23, 1916, at the age of almost 78 years, after an illness of several months. At times Mr. Stroud was able to be about, but was in poor health.
He was born in Illinois, Sept. 8, 1838 [sic], and moved to Hamilton, Ia., with his parents when a boy. He was married to Jane Greer in 1860 and to them twelve children were born, six of whom survive. Those living are Mrs. Emma McCullough, of Sewell, Ia., Mrs. Mona Fisher, of Chariton, Ia., Mrs. Laura Mott, of Eddyville, Iowa, C. A. Stroud, Brashear, Sam Stroud, Kansas City, Kan. and Charles Stroud, of Canada.
Mr. and Mrs. Stroud moved to a farm north of Brashear thirteen years ago where they have since made their home. Mrs. Stroud, who is 72 years old, is still in fairly good health. The funeral will be at the home, with burial in Brashear cemetery, but the time is not fixed as Charles is expected from Canada and will not arrive until Sunday or later. — Brashear News.
