BOSTIC - Mr. Jack Edward Philbeck age 73, of 739 Tiney Road died Thursday, April 23, 1998, at the Rutherford Hospital.
He was a native of Rutherford County, NC, and a son of the late Foster Erwin and Lula Blankinship Philbeck. He was one of the founders of Foothills Manf. Company where he retired as Maintenance Engineer. He was also Building Contractor for many years. He served in the United States navy in Guam during World War II with the C-Bees Unit. A member of the Corinth Baptist Church in Ellenboro, NC, where he was a former member of the Church Building Committee when the present church buildings were erected, he also was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion and the Woodmen of the World Camp 925, Ellenboro, NC.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Hinson Philbeck of the home; two sons, Eddie Philbeck and wife, Rita, of Bostic, NC, and Scott Philbeck of Bostic, NC; a daughter, Mrs. Kathy P. Jolley and husband, Dr. Charles Jolley, of Madison Heights, Va.; a sister, Mrs. Pearl P. Webb of Ellenboro, NC.
His grandchildren are Mrs. Laura Tan, Miss Sara Jolley, Miss Jessica Philbeck, Miss Amanda Philbeck and Jeremy Philbeck.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, April 25, 1998, from the Corinth Baptist Church with Rev. Ad Hopper officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 6 until 8 PM Friday at the Padgett & King Mortuary, 227 East Main Street, Forest City, NC.
Memorials may be made to the Corinth Baptist Church Building Fund, 785 Pinehurst Road, Ellenboro, NC 28040.
Padgett & King Mortuary is serving the family of Mr. Philbeck.
