Lineage rationale:
From the Will of Zadok Daniel of Wake County, North Carolina, 7 Sep 1850, we are able to document his children, as in quotes below listing Susan Stevens:
"I give and bequeath to seven of my first children viz. my sons James L. Daniel, William B. Daniel, Dudley D. Daniel and Zadok J. Daniel and daughters "Susan L. Stevens", Polly J.Cottrell and Fammy A. Averett,... " Note that Johny W. L. Daniel, Lewis Daniel, and Elizabeth Ann Gresham children by my first wife, have no division by this will each having received from me more than their proportion of my effects"....
With the above information, we conclude that he and his first wife had 10 living children. Later on he mentions 3 children by his last and present (1850)wife, Martha Lowery.

State of North Carolina, Wake County Thomas Cottrell & Henry Warren...sum of five hundred pounds, current money,....dated 3rd day of June 1815...Thomas Cottrell hath made an application for license for a marriage to be celebrated between him and Susanah Daniel..
