The son of George Andrew and Minnie Cordelia (Linder) Olbert, he married Isabel Alice Bare on 27 August 1919 in Greene County, Illinois.

Balfour L. Olbert, 75, who had divided his time between East Alton and Florida for several years, died at 3:15 a.m. today at Carrollton.

A member of a widely known Greene County family, Mr. Olbert was born June 3, 1889, near Carrollton, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Olbert.

Before moving to East Alton area he had lived in Greenfield and was a member of Greenfield Masonic Lodge.

He was a veteran of World War I, and a member of Edwardsville Post, American Legion.

Mr. Olbert had been a patient in an Alton hospital before coming to Carrollton to the home of his niece, Mrs. F. L. Imus, a few days ago.

A brother, John of East Alton, survives. His wife, the former Alice Bare, died April 17, 1964.

Masonic funeral rites for Balfour L. Olbert of Hallandale, Fla., who died Wednesday in Carrollton at the home of his niece, Mrs. F. L. Imus, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Simpson Funeral Home in Carrollton. Rites will be by the members of Greenfield Masonic Lodge.

Following the Masonic rites the body will be cremated and a graveside service held at a later date at the Carrollton Cemetery.
