Robert Kimbrel, 81, died on Thurs. July 1, 2010 at Halsey Hall at Ft. Dodge, Ks. He was born the son of Albert Wilson and Ruth L. (Nugent) Kimbrel on Sept. 21, 1928 at Dodge City, Ks.
He served his country as a paratrooper during the Korean War.
He married Doris Mildred Bales on Sept. 8, 1951 in Perryton, Tx.
He worked in construction for Stauth Brothers and Western Construction and later worked for the Ensign Farmers Coop for 15 years. He also served as a deputy Sheriff for Gray County and served on the Ensign City council.
Survivors include his wife Doris of the home, two sons, Richard (Lanna) of Winfield, KS. and Kent (Nancy Lynn) of Dodge City, Ks.; one daughter, Charlotte (John) Sroka of Hamden, Connecticut.; one brother, A.W. Kimbrel of Ft. Worth, Tx.; six granchildren and six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Kenneth, Laddie and two sisters, Glennis Seymour and Eleanor Bindley and one grandson, Adam Kimbrel.
Graveside service with military Rites by Howard Gotschall Post #1714 was held on Tues. July 6, 2010 with Pastor Kirk Larson presiding. Memorials to Parkinsons Foundation in care of Swaim Funeral Home.
