Robert L. Abar, 87, of North Syracuse, passed away Wednesday at his home. He was born in Auburn, NY. He retired as a salesman for Hershey Foods/P&R Macaroni and was formerly employed at A&P Grocery and Peter's IGA. Robert was an Army Air Force veteran of WWII and was held as a Prisoner Of War in Germany. He was a member of the VFW in Lyons, NY, DAV and a mason. His wife, Irene, passed away June 25, 2008. Surviving are his daughter, Yvonne M. (Peter) Kenyon of Baldwinsville; two grandsons, Michael P. of Winchester,Virginia and Richard A. of Weedsport. A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday July 5, 2010 with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. at the Maurer Funeral Home, 300 Second St., Liverpool. Entombment will be in Sunset Atrium Mausoleum of Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse. Contributions may be made to Pet Haven Cemetery, 4501 West Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse, NY 13215 or NAVAC, 603 North Main St., North Syracuse, NY 13212.
