Note: Multiple "The Melvern Review" pieces refers to her as "Mrs. J. E. Ashby", but it's unclear if the "J." here is for her first name (i.e. "J. Elizabeth"), or if the "J." is for her husband, Jonathan Ashby...

Edited from "The Melvern Review", Thur., Feb. 13, 1908, pg. 1 col. 4:

Passed On.
After a short illness Elizabeth Ashby passed from this life at her [Melvern] city home here Tuesday [Feb. 11, 1908] night at 10:00 o'clock p.m., at the advanced age of 88 years. Until just before her death she had been very active for one of her age, being able to get around well and to even help much with the house work.

Elizabeth Parker was born at [Ide] Hill, England, July 18, 1819. She was married to Jonathan Ashby in London, October 5, 1838. Together they came to America in 1854, and to Kansas in 1864, locating in Leavenworth county, where Mr. Ashby died May[should be: June] 11th the same year.

Deceased is survived by four sons and three daughters. The three daughters, Dr. [Judith Elizabeth] Farley, Miss [Susan Sarah] and Miss Amy, and one son [John] reside here [in Melvern]; [Thomas] G. at Leavenworth, [George H.] at Los Angeles, Calif., and [William E.] at Cad[d]oa, Colo. [George] was the only one unable to reach her side before the end came, and funeral arrangements are deferred awaiting his arrival. Services will be held at the home and the interment had in the Melvern cemetery [and at?] the direction and ceremonies of the Eastern Star of which she was a member.
