Pvt. Garrison was killed in action while serving with Co. B of the 128th Infantry Regiment of the 32nd Infantry Division. This Division landed on Leyte Islands, Philippines on November 14, 1944, and relieved the 24th Infantry Division, and went into action on the 16th attacking toward Ormoc, Corkscrew Ridge, and Breckneck Ridge.

He is the husband of the former Miss Edith J. Stanley of 2502 North Madison in Peoria, Illinois, and the father of two children, Miss Janet Lee, and Master Larry Leroy, and is the son of Mr. Ernie L. & Mrs. Ruth M. {Rowe} Garrison of 82 Southgate in Peoria. Pvt. Garrison was a 1940 graduate of Peoria H.S., and was drafted as a replacement on October 30, 1944. He married Miss Stanley in East Peoria on September 1, 1940. His father was the President of Melvin Trucking in Peoria. He does leave two brothers, Sgt. Eugene Garrison of the Army Air Corps in Europe, and Melvin Garrison at home.
