Dean F. Anthony, age 91 of Greenville, passed away at 8:25 a.m. Thursday, July 1, at Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Greenville.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Donnell - Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville with Darryl Bolen officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be held Friday 5-8 p.m. at the Donnell - Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. For those who desire, memorials may be made to the Bond County Genealogy Society.

Dean Foulon Anthony, the son of William Clem Anthony and Amy Pricilla Foulan Anthony, was born on September 21, 1918 in Edwardsville. The family moved to Greenville when Dean was five and he was raised here and attended Central School, the McCord One room school and graduated from Greenville High School with the class of 1935. In his youth he set pins at the Bowling Alley and worked on farms near Greenville. Dean answered his countries call by joining the United States Army on June 23, 1943 in Chicago and rose to the rank of 1st Seargent. He servied overseas and was awarded the Victory Ribbon, American Theatre Ribbon , Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with 2 overseas bars and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on February 26, 1946 at Jefferson Barracks. He returned home and began work with the Schuette 3 S Market which later became Piggly Wiggly here in Greenville. Dean was manager of the stores in Carlyle, Belleville and Collinsville. He was then at Shermers Market. Mr. Anthony retired from the Gorcery business and joined Bunyard Real Estate. He and his wife Nelda enjoyed Geneology and family history, doing research for over 100 Cemeteries. They enjoyed travelling to all 50 states, Europe, Mexico Canada and Hawaii.

Dean and Nelda Nadine Neer were united in marriage on March 21, 1947 by Rev. Causey in Greenville and enjoyed over 63 years together. Nelda survives as does a daughter Judith, Mrs. Glenn Rolves of Greenville.

Dean and Nelda had one son, Robert Dean Anthony, he died in a motorcyle accident. Robert's daughter Angelique M. Bohannon survives of Vandalia, and her children: Karyssa Bohannon, Robert Bohannon, and Dakota Durr are the three great grandchildren who survive. Also surviving are four step grandchildren: Christopher Rolves, Martha Tomlin, Michael Tomlin, Daniel Tomlin, and three step great-grandchildren: Krystal Tomlin, Thomas Joseph Phipps, and Kyle Vaughan. Dean is survived by one brother William C. Anthony.

Dean is a member of the Bond County Geneological Society, the Bond County Historical Society, the V.F.W. Post 1377 and Amvet's Post 140 both of Greenville.
