Long, 86, was born on Nov. 12, 1886, on a farm southeast of Strauss in Cherokee County, a son of Amos and Mary Cooper Long. He grew to manhood there. He and Winnie A. Casey were married in 1908.
They continued to live on the family farm until moving to Parsons in 1945. Long continued farming and raising cattle at the family homestead.
He was a member of the Central Avenue Christian Church and the McCune Lodge No. 237, AF&AM.
At his death he was survived by Mrs. Long of the home; a son; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Dorothy) Duroni, and Mrs. W. L. (Marian) Russell of Central City, Ky.; six grandsons and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters and one granddaughter.
The Burris-Wall Funeral Home with the Rev. L. O. White officiated. Burial is in Memorial Lawn.
