Jesup, Ga. - Jean Adams Walker, 86 of Jesup, Ga. died Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.

The Brantley County, Ga. native had lived in Jesup since 1949 and was a member of Jesup First United Methodist Church, where she had served on the Altar Guild, was a member of the Susannah Wesley Sunday School Class and Circle 4. She and her family will be remembered for decorating the Sanctuary for the Advent Season over a period of many years.

She attended Auburn University and Georgia Teachers College in Statesboro and taught school in Hortense on a War Emergency Certificate toward the end of WWII.

Her hobbies included painting, playing bridge, working cross word puzzles and genealogy. She was a lifelong member of the Huxford Genealogy Society, Inc. of Homerville, Ga., the Wayne County Historical Society and the Altamaha Chapter of the D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution).

She was predeceased by her husband, Randall M. Walker, Jr.; her son, Bruce A. Walker; brothers, C. Winton Adams and Ronald F. Adams; sisters, Claire A. O'Quinn, Wilma A. Weisenburger, Maxine Adams and her infant twin sister, Ernestine Adams.

Survivors are two daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Don R. Story, April and Dwight Drury, both of Jesup, Ga.; a son, Randall "Randy" M., III and Polly Walker of Guyton, Ga.; a brother, Grayson R. Adams of Port Richey, Fla.; grandchildren, Adrienne and Lee Lawhorne of Savannah, Ga., Don Reynold Story, Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla. , Holly Humphrey, Lauren and Pete Amis, both of Jesup, Ga.; great grandchildren, Bennett Lawhorne, Morgan Humphrey and Riley Amis; several nieces and nephews; a daughter-in-love, Stephanie Walker of Flowery Branch, Ga.; two special caregivers, Gail Stephens and Cynthia Southerland.

Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Friday, May 23, 2014 at Jesup First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tucker Lewis and Rev. Julian Tucker officiating. A private family interment will be in the Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Kenny Bryan, Tom Freeman, Don R. Story, Jr., Bennett Lawhorne, Chris Thorpe and Alan Jones.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 A.M. prior to services at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jesup First United Methodist Church, 205 E. Cherry Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545 or Hospice of South Georgia, 1625 Sunset Blvd., Jesup, Ga. 31545.
