SSgt. Bruninga was killed in action by heavy Flak on 6-22-1944 while flying as a waist gunner on a B-17G Bomber out of England with the 8th Air Force.

His parents are Mr. Lewis E. & Mrs. Anna M. Bruninga of R.R. #1 in Peoria, Illinois. He is a 1939 graduate of Manual Training H.S., and was employed at Caterpillar Tractor Co. prior to his enlistment on August 30, 1942, and did his flight training at Stamford, Texas to be an aerial Gunner on a Bomber. He leaves one sister, Mrs. Margaret Noren of Pekin, Illinois.
