PANHANDLE (Spc.) - Julius Ruden Meaker, Jr., 55, was dead on arrival Thursday at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo after an apparent heart attack.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. David Campbell, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery by Smith Funeral Home. There will be Masonic graveside rites.

Meaker was born Sept. 21, 1923 in White Deer. He married the former Helen Bonner in 1948 in Pampa.

A farmer and a landowner, Meaker was director for McClellan Creek Water Conservation District and Carson County Agriculture Stabilization Conservation Service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and Carson Lodge 1167 AF&AM and a veteran of WWII.

Survivors include his wife, Helen; three daughters, Mrs. Lynn McGregor, Mrs. Carrie Nunn and JoDell Meaker, all of Amarillo; his stepmother, Mrs. Velma Meaker of White Deer; one brother, Gilbert of Panhandle; and one sister, Mrs. Clara Hoskins of White Deer.
