Gilbert "Gib" Meaker, 59, died Tuesday, July 19, 1988 in Mexico City of an apparent heart attack.

Services are pending with N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors of Amarillo.

Meaker was born in White Deer and was a graduate of White Deer High School. He had been a Panhandle resident for over 40 years.

He was stationed in Germany in post war World War II. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Panhandle, Carson Lodge 1167, AF and AM, a director of the Squarehouse Museum and a retired farmer and jeweler.

Survivors include his wife Helen; and two daughters, Kitt Meaker Wright, Amarillo and Katie Meaker Craig, Dallas.

Funeral services for Gilbert "Gib" Meaker will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Preston Harrison, former minister now living in Dallas, officiating.

Burial will be in the Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of N.S. Griggs & Son Funeral Directors of Amarillo.

Survivors include his wife, Helen, two daughters, Kitt Wright of Amarillo and Katie Craig of Dallas.
