Avis Laurene Sitorius, 87, of North Platte died Monday, April 10, 2006, at Centennial Park Retirement Village in North Platte.
Avis was born July 19, 1918, at Shelton to Eugene Freeman and Florence Inez Dubbs Frazell. She grew up in Shelton and graduated from Shelton High School in 1935 and then went to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for more schooling. Avis then taught school at Cairo for a year and then taught in a school north of Wood River before she married.
Avis married Anan Romaine Sitorius on June 25, 1938 at Phillipsburg, Kansas. They lived in Kearney and Greely, Colorado before moving to North Platte in May 1941. She was a very caring and loving lady and was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
Avis was a member of the First Methodist Church, Circle Group No 5, the Church Women United and the Union Pacific old Timers. Survivors include her sons, Richard (Judy) Sitorius and Michael Sitorius and fiancée Mary Ann (?), all of North Platte; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; sisters Marjorie Pinkerton of North Platte and Rosalie (Dick) Lippincott of Central City; and several nieces and nephews and other family. She was preceded in death by her husband Anan, her parents, a sister, Lois Ramsay and her brother Delbert Frazell.
A memorial has been established for North Platte Special Olympics or to the donor's choice. Interment will be in the Kearney Cemetery.
