Mrs. Bishop was born in Surry County to the late Jay and Geneva Goad Bennett. She retired from Renfro and was a member of Mount Airy Wesleyan Church.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, George Donald "Don" and Jamie Bishop of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; grandchildren and spouses, Donivan George and Tara Bishop and Julie Bishop Sutton and husband Eric Sutton all of Jacksonville, Fla.; sisters and brother-in-law, Virginia Midkiff of Mount Airy, Ruth Pike of Deltona, Fla., and Polly and Lewis Simmons of Burkeville, Va.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon Thursday, June 24, 2010, at Mount Airy Wesleyan Church by the Rev. Richard Loman with burial to follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday at Mount Airy Wesleyan Church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Bishop was preceded in death by her husband, George Washington Bishop.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Mount Airy Wesleyan Church, P.O. Box 1286, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
