Frank Tyree, the youngest of five children, was born to Thomas Marion and Mary Frances Gipson Tyree. Along with his parents, three brothers have predeceased him: Ernest Gipson Tyree, Carl Spencer Tyree, and Joe Horace Tyree. Margaret Burden, Tullahoma, a sister, survives.
Other survivors include his wife, Sallie Lee Tyree, whom he married on November 22, 1925, six children, twenty-five grandchildren, and forty great-grandchildren.
