Born July 2, 1914 in Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Andrew J. & Lena (Zart) Middendorf. On June 26, 1947 she married Cletus G. "Bub" Lampe at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fort Madison, Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 18, 2004.
Survivors include two sons Michael (Mary Kay) Lampe of West Point, Iowa, Thomas (Marlys) Lampe of West Point, Iowa, two daughters Jeanne (Michael) Hamilton of Fort Madison, Iowa, Becky (John) Lake of Fort Madison, Iowa, nine grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Cletus, her parents, two brothers and one sister.
Helen graduated from Catholic Central School in Fort Madison, Iowa. She then worked at Sheaffer Pen in Fort Madison, later she was a bookkeeper for Freitag Implement in West Point and lastly she worked as an office manager for B.J. Fedler Insurance in West Point. Helen was a member of St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic Church in West Point and the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, caning antique chairs, quilting and her family.
Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at The Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in West Point, Iowa. A Christian Wake service will be held at 3:00 p.m. A Parish rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. The family will meet with friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. that evening.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2012 at St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic Church with Reverend Gary Beckman as celebrant. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery in West Point, Iowa.
Memorials may be made in her memory to Holy Trinity Catholic Schools or the West Point Fire and Rescue.
