John's children by his first wife (not Mary Walter/Walker, as that John and Mary married in PA in 1828, which doesn't match up with births of their first chldren AND he was living in Ohio for several decades surrounding this alleged marriage in PA), were Eliza (Herrick), Sarah A. (Miller), Caroline M. (Redding), and Bryant S (aka SB). We can find nothing of his first wife. He was apparently estranged from daughter Eliza. Sarah J. (Miller), Caroline A. (Redding), and Bryant were left with the estate. It was noted in the will that his 5 children by his second marriage (To Abigail Olin) were lost to "parts unknown". His daughter Sarah moved eventually to Ogle County, IL, but Caroline and her family moved from Watervliet to Decatur, and then vanished. Bryant was well-established in town and remained there to raise his large family. The date of birth shown here is from a handwritten page containing birthdates of John and all his siblings up to Mahala. It was probably written out after Mahala's birth (1807), but before Esther Bruen Young was born (1812). This handwritten page indicates he was the son of Robert and Sarah (Briant) Young, both of Randolph, Morris County, New Jersey.
