Shirley Putney Slaight, 70, of 1223 Florence Ave. died Thursday, Nov. 21, 1996, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.

Born June 25, 1926, in Kilbourne to Pearl Francis and Alta Pearl Kidd Miller, she married Leon F. Slaight on May 7, 1966, in Peoria. He survives.

Also surviving are one son, Lester R. Putney of Bloomington; two daughters, Bonnie Benson of Mapleton and Wendy M. Seelye of Pekin; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four brothers, William Miller of East Peoria, Gene Miller of Sunnyland, Ralph Miller of Pekin and Harvey Miller of Peoria; and two sisters, Violet Whitehead of Sunnyland and Frances Ballard of Bellevue.

She was preceded in death by one son, Ernest Michael Putney, and two sisters.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Pekin Ward.

Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
