Services for Bessie Covington Joplin, 93, of Crosbyton were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 1991, in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lester B. Griffin, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Joplin died at 12:04 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 1991, in Crosbyton Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Panola, Ky., and moved from Clay County to the McAdoo Pansy area in 1927. She married Jodie Clifford Joplin on Nov. 5, 1916, in Clay County. He died in 1967. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church and the Homemakers Sunday School Class. She was a former member of the Pansy Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Women´s Missionary Union. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include a son, Milton of Carrollton; three daughters, Charlsie Ratheal of Crosbyton, Loeta Thornton of Plainview and Bobbie Trull of McAdoo; two sisters, Carrye Morgan of Joy and Tommie Reeder of Stockton, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren.
