Obituary in the Coronado Eagle and Journal:

Edith Gail Roullard left us peacefully on Nov. 30. Gail, as she preferred being called, was born in Charleroi, Penn. on Sept. 30, 1916. She assisted her brother Gerald in teaching dance for several years, until she took a secretarial job with the U.S. Hydrographic Office in Washington.
She met her future husband, Navy Captain George D. Roullard in Washington and they were married in August 1950. After the birth of their first son, in 1952, George and Gail moved to California, where George was stationed in Coronado and Long Beach. Their second son was born shortly before George was reassigned to duty in the Panama Canal Zone. The family then moved to Kodiak, Alaska for two years.
After George retired from the Navy, the family moved back to Coronado where George taught high school math and Gail raised their two sons. Gail and George enjoyed entertaining and had frequent dinners with friends. Gail had traveled extensively with George, both as a Navy wife and after George's retirement. After George's death in 1986, Gail still had wanderlust. After hosting a couple of her son's friends from Switzerland in her home, she was invited to visit their home in Switzerland with her son. Her granddaughter accompanied her on one of Gail's three Mississippi steamboat cruises. She also visited Banff National Park, Canada several times.
Gail moved to Sungarden Terrace Assisted Living in Lemon Grove in 2002. She made fast friends with the staff and many residents at Sungarden and enjoyed going out to lunch with her son and his wife, as well as visits from her other son and his family. Although Gail had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease at the end of 2002, she continued to enjoy her favorite foods (especially chocolate) and her friends who came to see her at Sungarden Terrace.
Gail is survived by her sons, her grandsons and a granddaughter.
There will be a celebration of her life at Il Fornaio Restaurant in Coronado on Dec. 21 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to San Diego Hospice, or the Alzheimer's Association of San Diego may be made.
