Chester M. Byerly, 64, Millsboro, Del., died at 5:20 a.m. Thursday in the Veterans' Hospital Ellsemere, Del., after a brief illness. He was the husband of Norma Byerly. Born in Wilmington, Del., he was the son of the late Abram and Dora Byerly. Byerly was a maintenance man for Tastee Freeze ice cream in Millsboro. He was a member of Cresswell Church of God and a Navy veteran of World War II. Besides his wife, he is survived by eight children: Janet, wife of Kenneth Murphy, Columbia; Pauline, wife of Jacob Trostle, Willow Street; Donald M., Willow Street; Russell, Buck; Guy, Harrington, Del.; Shirley King, Harrington, Del.; Maria Byerly, Harrington, Del. and Dennis, Oxford. He is also survived by 120 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, brother Andrew Byerly, Highville and sister Mrs. Thelma Hayes, California. (Intelligencer Journal - April 2, 1976)
