Johnathan Ware was born in Fairfield County, Ohio Feb.~22~1822. Died Nov.~12~1899, aged 77 years 8 months and 20 days. He was a sufferer more or less for a number of years and 24 hours before his death his suffering was intense. He leaves two sons and several grandchildren to mourn his loss. His wife Clarissa[Bennett}Ware and one son Frank Edward and one daughter Sarah Elizabeth preceded him upon that voyage from whence no traveler has ever returned.
The deceased came to McPherson county 26 years ago after his wife, son and daughter died in Ill and settled on the farm where he died. Thus one by one the old landmarks are removed, reminding us "That here we have no abiding city". He united with the Evangelical Association about eight years ago, remained a member and consistent Christian until called from the labors and sufferings of this present life to bliss and rewards of the faithful.
A large concourse of neighbors and friends gathered at the funeral services to pay the last tribute to one who had been with them so long. Services were held at Centennial School House, conducted by the Pastor.
