Mr. Marion L. "Lum" Stephens 58, R>F>D>1; Galva who was driving the car in which his wife was killed when the car struck a bridge east of McPherson June 21, died at 2 o'clock a.m. this morning at the McPherson county hospital.
Mr. Stephens July 30, 1885 the son of Mr. and Mrs. James M. Stephens in Ipava, Ill. He had lived here most of his life.
Survivors are; his mother Mrs. E.Claire Paul, Lindsborg); a daughter, Mrs. Gale Grady, Colby; a son, Murray V. Stephens, Wilson; 5 grandchildren, Gordon Keith Stephens of Colby, Jerry Marion of Zona, Gale and Myrna Joie Stephens of Wilson, and Patricia Ann Grady of Colby.
Double funeral services will be held for Mr. and Mrs. M.L. Stephens at 10:30 a.m. Monday morning at Quirings Funeral Home, with Dr. E.F. Buck, pastor of the Methodist church officiating. Interment will be in the McPherson cemetery.

M.L. "Lum" Stephens was born July 30, 1885 at Ipava, Ill; the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Stephens, and died at the McPherson county hospital Monday morning June 26, 1944 at the age of 58 years 10 months and 26 days. He moved to McPherson with his parents in September 1887. The following February they moved to Elyria where they lived six years. Early in 1897 to the old home farm two miles west of Canton. In November 1918 Gilbert Stephens the grandfather died causing the farm to be sold in 1920. Mr. Stephens attended Garfield school.
They were united in marriage on July 30, 1905. Two children were born to this union: Murray V. Stephens of Wilson, and Mrs. Gale Grady of Colby.
