A Pioneer Christian Rests.
The lingering illness of Mrs. Arminta Craig terminated in death at the age of 85 years last Saturday. She was the widow of the late Judge J.B. Craig, the first mayor of this city, and was the step-mother of Mrs. B.F. Devore and Mrs. R.C. Harper, who with their children have looked after her comfort many years, and later kept a nurse at her call. After the Devore family came west, the loss of "Arthur and Bessie" was too much for the grand-parents and they followed soon. They became prominent in the organization of the Presbyterian church, and valuable members, and also she was for many years active in the Rebekah lodge which were in charge of the funeral. She was a cheery, hopeful character and her home was filled with flowers and blooms and in later years young women. The last few months the struggle was watched over closely and nothing omitted to please her. The funeral was attended by her pastor, Rev. Floyd Poe, who spoke cheeringly of the influence of her long life. The absent children of Judge Craig are Samuel Craig and Mrs. A.L. Whiteman of Wapakoneta, Ohio, and Mrs. S.H. Huffer of Muncie, Ind. She was laid beside her husband in Mount Hope.
