Lau Chung MAY have been born 03 May 1867 in Hong Kong. He MAY have immigrated to the Kingdom of Hawaii in 1895. He was working as a carpenter at Waiakea sugar plantation in South Hilo in May 1910. He married Maria Augusta CARVALHO 09 Dec 1912 at Kainehe on the Island of Hawaii. He built their home with his wife's dowry of $500 on Alani Street near Alewa (later 1223 Alani St.) in Honolulu. They had three children: Rose LYU [LAU], Lau Kui Kyau (known as Hilda), and Alexander Chong [Chinese name: Kui Chong], who was born four months after his father's death at age 50 on 11 Apr 1918. He was buried at Ket On Society Chinese Cemetery, 385 Auwaiolimu Street in Honolulu. His grave has not been located.
