Bobby Eugene Heflin, 73, a resident of Dover, died Friday, June 25, 2010, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center.

He was born January 29, 1937, at Russellville to L. D. and Bertha Smith Heflin. He was a United States Air Force veteran of Vietnam and was a member of the Rogers-Rye V. F. W. Post 2283. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. He was preceded in death by his father; his sister, Nadine Heflin Jones; and an infant son.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Heflin of Dover; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Janie Heflin of Bakersfield, California; a daughter and son-in-law, Suzie Bigelow Mattheussens and Gunther Mattheussens of Belgium; four step-daughters, Elaine Jackson, Lori Bankston, Terri Smith, and Bonnie Sorrells, all of Bryant; his mother, Bertha Byrum of Dover; two half-brothers; a half-sister; his brother-in-law, Glenn Jones of Dover; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four nieces, Marchelle Jones of Dover, Janette Jones of Huntsville, Alabama, Melinda Jones of Guntersville, Alabama, and Beth Jones of Laceys Spring, Alabama; numerous great-nephews, great-nieces, and cousins; and a butt load of friends.

A graveside service, with military honors provided by the Rogers-Rye V. F. W. Post 2283, will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at East Point Cemetery at Russellville with the Rev. Leroy Muncy and the Rev. Devoe Campbell officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dewayne and Garrett Jones and the members of the Rogers-Rye V. F. W. Post 2283.

Visitation will be from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. on Monday, at the funeral home.
