Xznon & Anna Souers

Xznon Perry Souers and Anna Ludella Brown were married on April 20, 1897. His parents were Judson Nigh and Hannah M. Ryan Souers. Her parents were Jonas Edward and Serrepta Jane Simon Brown. Xznon and "Louie" were the parents of Mildred Marie (Beeson), Grafton B. and Ira Raymond Souers. They were the grandparents of Eugene Beeson, Sebert Souers and John Souers. Xznon died Jan. 9, 1952 and "Louie" died May 15, 1961. They are buried in the Lancaster Cemetery, Huntington County.

Through the years, various spellings of the name have appeared: Souers, Sauer, Sowers and Sours. The earliest trace of the Souers family is found in Westmoreland County, PA in 1787 when Johannes Sauer and his wife, Margarethe, become the parents of their eldest child Jacob. In 1810 Jacob married Elizabeth Franks and they moved to Wayne County, OH in 1817. They reared a family of 10 children. Several of their sons moved to Huntington County around 1837, settled land, started churches and became leaders in the community.
