Graveside memorial services for Ruth K. Schoephoerster will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 18, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Oelwein, with the Rev. Alan Wolkenhauer officiating. There will be no visitation.
Mrs. Schoephoerster, 76, died Thursday, March 30, at the El Dorado Hospital in Tucson, Ariz., following a short illness.
She was born Aug. 31, 1918, in Oelwein, the daughter of Claude & Anna Maude (Oakes) Leaton. She married Walter E. Schoephoerster June 14, 1941, in Oelwein. He died Oct. 9, 1984. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church & was a lifelong Oelwein resident.
Survivors include one daughter, Gail Dibble of Crystal, Minn.; two sons, Jerry of Tuscon, and Lee of Ottumwa; four grandchildren & three great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Claudine Schatz of Pea Ridge, Ark., Dorothy Blume of Omaha, Neb., and Martha Leverington of Oelwein.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Jane Ellen Schoephoerster; and three grandchildren, Mark, Michelle, and Charles.
Memorials may be given in her name to the American Diabetes Association.
Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein is in charge of arrangements.
Ruth had been visiting her son Jerry & his family in Tucson when she fell ill and had to be hospitalized. Her residence was in Oelwein, Iowa.
