Delilah Thornburg

Delilah Fern Thornburg, 91, of New London died at 10:50 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at New London Nursing and Rehab Center.

Born Oct. 2, 1918, in Lowell, she was the daughter of James and Jessie Conor Parsons. On July 28, 1940, she married Burton E. Thornburg in Kahoka, Mo. He died July 9, 1995.

Mrs. Thornburg farmed with her husband. She graduated from Salem High School. She was a member of the former Baptist Church in Lowell. She was a St. Louis Cardinal fan and great cook.

Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Buchholz of West Point and Marcia Drish of Batavia; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Velma Davey of New London and Louise Conard of Ruskin, Fla.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one grandchild, her parents and one brother.

Visitation with family will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at Lunning Chapel in Burlington.

The funeral for Mrs. Thornburg will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Rod Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery in New London.

A memorial has been established for the Lowell Street Lights Fund.
