Ruhamah DeWolf and Jesse Pelton were married September 21, 1802, but she, living with her parents in Vernon, did not come to Gustavus intil January of 1803. Their first child died at birth in the summer of 1803 and was the first death and burial in the township. They later had ten children, the tenth being Tensard, father of Eugene T. Pelton.
