Frances Spears of Chase, Michigan, died Wednesday, October 25, 2000 at her home. She was 93 years old. Mrs. Spears was born August 6, 1907 in Rodney, Michigan. She married George Armstrong, who preceded her in death in 1954. She married George Spears in 1972. He preceded her in death in 1979. She attended Chippewa Lake Schools and had lived most of her life in the Chase area. Mrs. Spears had been employed as a cook at the Brown bungalow and later at Reed City Hospital as a dietitian. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and crocheting. Survivors include her stepdaughter, Margaret Munsell of Birch Run; daughter-in-law, Lorene Armstrong of Grand Rapids; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sons, Jack Armstrong, and Ivan "Junior" Armstrong; three brothers; and four sisters. Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at McDowell Funeral Home in Reed City with the Rev. Wayne McKenney officiating. Burial will be in Chase Township Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. today, and one hour prior to services on Saturday.
