Thanks to member Joe Lyvers for suggesting addition of this biography. Sarah was the daughter of Ephriam Perry Evans and his wife Elizabeth, nee Alexander. Sarah's siblings were John Wesley Evans and Laura Ann Evans.

Sarah married James Aloysius Roby (his baptismal name) on February 4, 1858 in Nelson County, Kentucky. Her husband was Catholic, but at the time she was not. She was later baptized at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Daviess County, Kentucky on May 13, 1866.

Two stories from oral family history:

On there wedding day in 1858, her husband's father Jacob gave him a half bushel of potatoes. They used the potatoes for seed potatoes and they did not buy any potatoes in their entire lifetime. Both lived to be 83 years old.

Also, James and his wife Sarah came to Daviess Co., KY from Leitchfield in a covered wagon pulled by oxen in 1859, when son John was their only child. Her husband was said to be the only person to vote for Abraham Lincoln in the Knottsville Precinct in the 1860 election.

Known also as Sally, she and James had 12 children:
John Alex Roby, born Oct 25, 1858 *Married Amanda Belle Wagner
Albert Alonzo Roby, born Aug 28, 1860
Laura Frances Roby, born June 2, 1862 *Married James Filmore Barrett
