The funeral of James Hamilton, 79, one of Montpelier's oldest residents, was held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from his late residence in Montpelier, Rev. Oren officiating. Interment was made in the Woodlawn cemetery. Philip Hamilton, a brother of the decedent, suffered a stroke of apoplexy on the same day that the Montpelier man was taken ill. Philip Hamilton is now in a critical condition.
James Hamilton had been ill for two weeks. He served one year in the army and was a member of Company H, Twelfth regiment, Indiana volunteers. The deceased was four times married, the three wives having preceded him in death. The widow, Mrs. Francis Truax Hamilton, four children, four step-children, three brothers and one sister, survive him.
