John W. Wadsworth Died Wednesday Afternoon At Lee

"After an illness of the past three weeks, in addition to poor health for the past several years, John W. Wadsworth, one of the best known and most loved and respected citizens of this county, passed quietly away at his home at Lee Wednesday afternoon at 3:30.
Mr. Wadsworth's death was due to uraemic poisoning, aggravated by Bright's disease. He had suffered intensely from time to time for a number of years, but remained steadfastly at his duties, often being found at wok when his physical condition called for his being at home, and bore his suffering with a patience that was remarkable.
Mr. Wadsworth was born in this county at the old Wadsworth home forty-three years ago, oldest son of the late Senator B.D. Wadsworth and Mrs. Wadsworth, the latter of whom survives him. When a young man he engaged in the mercantile business in Madison, but later became connected with the old Madison County State Bank, and remained with it until its consolidation into the First National Bank of Madison. He was connected with the First National Bank for 12 years, and was Cashier of the bank at the time (one year ago) that he resigned to become cashier and Active Manager of the newly organized Lee State Bank, which position he held at the time of his death.
Mr. Wadsworth was twice married; the first time on Feb. 7, 1900 to Miss Addie Lewis Edmondson of this city. Of this marriage, two children were born, Nonie and Addie Lewis, the latter of whom died in early childhood. The wife and mother also died in 1903.
In 1905, Mr. Wadsworth was married to Miss Marie Carlton of Micanopy, and of this marriage five children were born: John, James, Agnes, Claire and Catherine, all of whom are living except the last little daughter, Catherine, who died only two weeks ago.
The deceased also leaves two brothers, Lewis and Gordon, and two sisters, Mrs. J.J. Sullivan and Mrs J.T. Carlton, besides a number of other relatives and hosts of friends.
Mr. Wadsworth was a consistent member of the Catholic church, and lived an upright and honorable life. He was true in all the relations of life, and there was no one who could say aught against him. He died as he had lived, quietly and peacefully, and his kind disposition, his warm friendship and his exemplary manner of life will be missed, now that he is gone.
The body was laid to rest yesterday afternoon at the Brady cemetery near West Farm amid a profusion of floral offerings and in the presence of a large number of friends." (Madison Enterprise-Recorder)
