Clark was the son of Thomas Alexius Craycroft & Loretta Mudd. He married Mary Frances Hunter & they had 11 children. Clark was marshall of Springfield KY in 1858 & constable of Washington Co KY in 1861. He was appointed deputy sheriff in 1863. Clark represented Washington Co KY in the Legislature from 1865-1867. He became sheriff of the county in 1870.
