Walter was the oldest brother of my grandfather, William Hilber.
He was the son of Elizabeth Gairinger and Peter Mess. Peter passed away, leaving Elizabeth with two small boys- Walter and younger brother Martin. Elizabeth married Benjamin Hilber and he adopted the two boys and raised them as his own. Elizabeth and Benjamin went on to have the following children:
