James (Jim) R. Fincham, Sr., 73, of Topeka passed away at a local hospital on Wednesday, February 28, 2007.

He was born on June 8, 1933 in Blue Rapids, Kansas the son of Russell and Grace (Pollock) Fincham. He attended Pleasant Valley Schools in Blue Rapids, KS.

He married Marilyn Hofeling on September 7, 1956 at Emanuel State Line Lutheran Church in Wymore, NE. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with friends and family.

Jim served in the U.S. Navy. He was also an 18 year member of the American Legion North Topeka Post #400. Jim also worked as an equipment operator for Midwest Line Builders and later for Capital Electric retiring in 1998 after 33 years of service. In addition, Jim was a member of I.B.E.W. Local 304.

Jim enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, hunting and watching sporting events.

Survivors include his wife Marilyn; Daniel (Pattie) Fincham, Sherry, Cindy and Laurie; Donald Fincham, Brandon Fincham and Tasha Poort; James Fincham, Jr. and Lisa Anderson; DeAnna Gibson (Gordon), Brooke and Grace; 4 great-grandchildren; brother Raymond Fincham and sisters, Mary Kathryn Johnson and Margie Reed. Jim was preceded in death by Russell and Grace Fincham.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 5th at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Interment will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion North Topeka Post #400. Jim will lie in-state after 2:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home where family will greet friends from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
