2nd husband was Harrison Farmer, buried near Seneca, Mo. 3rd husband was Roy Cross, buried in Ozark Memorial Gardens in Rolla, Mo. Each one preceded her in death.
She raised the three oldest children as her own, Ruth, Thurman, and Dale. The next children were: Glen Alton-April 1925, Ira-Jan 1927, Claudia Jewel-Aug 1928, Billy Paul-1930 or 31, Beulah Mae-June 1933, Delphia-193?, Vernon Dewey-Sept 1941?, Carl Martin-May 1943.
Thank you Linda Mondy for finding this little treasure in our church cookbook!
Note from the Bassenger Memorial Church built 1911 (printed in the Union Church Cookbook):
"Sarah took her children to the Union Church around 70 years ago. She told the story of one service when Glen, her oldest son, had given all his candy away and reached in the 'poke' to get one for himself and there was none left. He began to cry and she felt so sorry for the 'poor little fellar' that she took out down to the store to buy him some more."
Grandma was also famous for her peanut brittle. And although I was never to hot on beans and cornbread, grandma made the best cornbread. Grandma would do just about anything she could for her children or her grandchildren.
