Robbie Wanama Simpkins Pool entered into the gates of heaven to meet her Savior on June 21, 2010. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother and maintained her dignity and sweet spirit throughout her valiant and courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).

Robbie was born on October 7, 1930 at Sagerton, Texas to Robert J. and Edna H. Lawhon Simpkins. She graduated from Stamford High School. She married Billy R. Pool on October 9, 1948 in Haskell. They moved to San Angelo in 1955 when Bill became an officer with the San Angelo Police Department. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church for over 50 years and taught Sunday School there for over 40 years. She also volunteered as a docent with Fort Concho for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Stephen Wayne Simpkins. Grandmommy, as she was affectionately known, is survived by her faithful husband Bill, two sons and spouses, Jack and Patti Pool and Cleave and Rickye Pool, all of San Angelo; grandchildren and spouses Jackie and Jerry Gift of Mertzon, Jim and Kelly Pool of Del Rio, Stacie and Brad Arnold, and grandsons Daniel Pool and David Pool of San Angelo. She also dearly loved her great-grandchildren Guy, Jaedyn Wesleigh and Ethan Pool, Caleb Arp, Ivy, Austin, Cameron and Travis Arnold, and Destany and Clayton Gift. Also one nephew, Russ Emerson of Austin and numerous cousins and dear friends.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23rd at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, June 24th at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery. Brother Jim Wilkerson will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Charles, Chris and Corky Stone, Carl, Greg and Brad Morse, David Wyatt and Robert Lloyd. Honorary pallbearers will be J.W. Lee, Guy Fredieu, Albert Burdett, Jack Kettler, Bobbie Simpkins, Ray Germany, Delbert Caffey and Scott Morse.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of San Angelo or Meals for the Elderly. The family also would like to thank Doctors Chris Vanderzant and Chris Barnett, the staffs of Concho Valley Home Health, the ALS Association of South Texas, Hospice of San Angelo and Meadow Creek Nursing Home for their compassionate care.
