Funeral services for John Henry Easter, 81, of Jacksonville will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with the Rev. Randle Ford officiating. Burial will be in Wofford Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Easter died on Wednesday, September 24, in a Jacksonville hospital following an extended illness.

He was born on August 2, 1906 at Throckmorton, Texas. He lived in Jacksonville since 1958. He was a retired custodian for Joe Wright School of Jacksonville. Mr. Easter served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Sunset Avenue Church in Jacksonville.

Survivors include one son, Vaughney R. Easter of Pineville, La; two step-sons, M.B. Jennings of Frankston; D.W. Moses of Jacksonville; one step-daughter, Marjorie Kunkel of Kerrville; four brothers, Roy Easter, Pecos; Victor Easter, Andrew; Jack Easter, Lacross, Kansas; Cecil Easter, Portales, New Mexico; five sisters, Mrs. Docia Carrol, Texas; Mrs. Pauline Riley, Mesilla Park, New Mexico; Mrs. Mabel Ollson, Pendleton, Ore.; Mrs. Minnette Wallace, Aumaville, Ore.; Mrs. Mary Lydia, Sheridan, Ore.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be deacons of Sunset Avenue Baptist Church of Jacksonville.
