CHARTER OAK, Iowa -- Devie Aronson, 55, of Charter Oak, formerly of Fremont, Neb., died Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa.

Services were Friday at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak. Burial was in St. Paul's Cemetery.

Devie Sue Aronson was born November 13, 1954, the daughter of Murlyn and LaMae Johannsen Aronson. She died Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of fifty-five.

Devie was baptized in Christ on December 5, 1954, and confirmed on April 7, 1968, at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, Iowa.

She attended St. John's Lutheran School and graduated from Charter Oak-Ute High School with the class of 1972. She attended Concordia Teachers College in Seward, Nebraska, graduating in 1976. She received a call to teach in a Lutheran School in Arenzville, Illinois, where she taught elementary school for two years. She then moved to Fremont, Nebraska, and taught early elementary at Trinity Lutheran School from 1978 to 2006. She worked at Fremont's Radio Station KHUB during Moostash Joe's Polka Time, and recently enjoyed working at Kent's Flowers, and Trinity's Early Childhood Center.

She was a loving and caring friend to others. She was always ready to help everyone and enjoyed offering her services to anyone in need. Her volunteer service included helping elderly neighbors and members of her church community; helping in various ways at her church and congregation, Trinity Lutheran Church, including Sunday School, Vacation Bible School; and at Care Corp in Fremont. Her friends and family would describe her as the epitome of Christian service.

Devie was preceded in death by her mother, LaMae Aronson; her grandparents, Carl and Hulda Johannsen, and Fred and Carolina Aronson. Her sister, Sandra Lawson also passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010. Survivors include her father, Murlyn; one sister, Wendy and her husband, Leon; one brother-in-law, Herman; nieces and nephews: Jeremy and Colleen and their son, Henry; Joshua; Tim and Ruth; Amy and Nick and their daughters, Sophia and Claire; Jason and Jessica and their daughter, Avary; Angela and her friend, Bill; Jackie and Bradley and their son, Niles; two aunts, Elfie and Gladys; many relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, June 25, 2010, at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, Iowa. Rev. Mark Hanneman, Rev. Richard Merrill and Rev. Eugene Ernst officiated the service and graveside rites held at the St. Paul's Cemetery in Charter Oak. Organist Marjorie Neddermeyer provided the organ accompaniment for congregational hymns "Let Us Ever Walk With Jesus," "Crown Him With Many Crowns" and "God Knew Your Name." Those serving as pallbearers were Amy Schumacher, Nick Schumacher, Jason Maas, Jessica Maas, Angela Maas, Bill Schumann, Jackie Graham and Brad Graham. A Prayer Service was held at 7 P.M., Thursday, June 24, 2010, at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak. The family invited everyone in attendance to join them in fellowship and lunch at the church served by St. John Ladies Aid and Immanuel Ladies Aid of Charter Oak. The Huebner Funeral Home in Charter Oak was in charge of arrangements.
