They were married January 29, 1832 where the name Heys was changed to Hayes. Both sign their marriage certificate with their Mark X as neither could read or write at the time. He was employed as a dyer or whitster. They gave all of their sons the middle name Hayes. From 1832 to 1834 they lived in Radcliffe having Solomon Memorial number 126457023 then James Memorial number 53970556. In 1835 they moved to Prestelee where Thomas Memorial number 78185036(Thomas' baptismal records were incorrectly filed under the name Heys) and the first Albert Hayes Memorial number 151109293 was born in 1837 they moved to Kearsley where the second Alfred Hayes was born Memorial number 151109398. In 1841 they moved back to Prestolee where Peter Hayes Memorial number 54041932, Alice Ellen Memorial number 47669654 and Samuel Hayes Memorial number 54042429 were born.
