The funeral services for Oscar McFarling, former Huronian who died Thursday in the veterans hospital at Lincoln, Neb., will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Aaseth Funeral Home with the Rev. Dean Baer officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memory Garden.
Pallbearers will be as follows: Honorary, Julius Johannsen, Roy Hinker, Ed Hinker, Loren Thompson, Joe Bowder; active, Robert Olson,Jim Johannsen, Jerome Mock, Wilbert Becker, Lewis Becker, and Ruben Stahl.
Friends may call Sunday afternoon or evening at the funeral home.
Oscar McFarling was born May 26, 1893, at Bunch, Iowa, to Mr. and Mrs. Albert McFarling.
In 1902 he moved with his parents to Wolsey where he attended school and also one year at Brookings. He was a veteran of World War I and served in the Military Police at Camp Dodge, Iowa. He married Ida Hay in 1920 and farmed north of Huron. He married Margaret Heller Sept. 4, 1943 at Huron. They operated McFarling's Flower and Ceramic Shop. Two years ago they moved to Lincoln. He was a member of the American Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his widow, Margaret, Lincoln; two sons, David and Norman, Lincoln, Neb.; one daughter, Mrs. David (Carolyn) Fralin, Rapid City; three grandchildren; one brother, C.A. McFarling, Wolsey; two sisters, Mrs. Lulu Roberts, Huron and Mrs. S.V. (Nellie) Taylor, Virgil.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Wesley in World War II, two brothers and two sisters.
