Gunter Rites Held Friday
Funeral services for Carroll A. Gunter, 62, longtime Carnegie resident, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 31, at the First Baptist church. Rev. Bob Williams, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, officiated, and was assisted by Rev. Lester McNair, pastor of local Baptist Church.
Gunter died Wednesday, in the local hospital following a lengthy illness. Interment was in the Carnegie cemetery.
Gunter was born July 8, 1911 near Gracemont, and had lived in Caddo county his entire life.
He was married to the former Flora Powers December 3, 1932.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Bernice Holmon and a brother, Warren Gunter.
He is survived by his wife, Flora, of the home; two sons, Frank of Oklahoma City and Jimmie of Carnegie; four daughters, Mary Cowling and Carolyn Wilburn of Eakly, Mildred Tyler and Reta Bailey of Carnegie; five brothers, Harold and Gerald of Oklahoma City, Leland of Livermore, Calif., Dale of Redwood City, Calif. and Clair of San Diego; three sisters, Oneta Ools of Oklahoma City, Loretta Grey of Frederick and Vena Mae Phillips of San Antonio, Texas and several grandchildren.
