Wayne Earl Baker, 70, of Rittman passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Wadsworth-RittmanHospital from his battle with cancer and other health issues. At the time of his passing, Wayne was surrounded by his wife Linda, brother Clarence, niece Heather Fleming Tackett and his special niece Brittany Lowe, nephew Adam Fleming, great nephew Skyler Fleming and sister P. Okel Baker. As Okel was holding Wayne's earthly hand-she told Wayne to take hold of their mom's hand and his spiritual hand took her's as his spirit left this earth.

Wayne was born in Beallsville, Ohio on August 29, 1939 to Lewis P. Baker and Irene S. (Hickman) Baker. They moved to Rittman permantly in the 1960's. Wayne worked at Bauer Ladder in Wooster for a number of years until 1970's before he became employed at Morton Salt in Rittman and worked there until he retired. Wayne lived in Rittman, but enjoyed spending a lot of time in Southern Ohio on the property he had called Bakers Acres.

Wayne leaves behind his loving and caring wife, Linda Lee (Sprowl) Baker of 39 years of marriage. He leaves behind his precious dog Peaches that was with Wayne since the 1990's. Peaches was the highlight of Wayne's life and was always at his side. Peaches will really miss Wayne. Out of Lewis and Irene Baker's ten children, Wayne was the fifth oldest.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, many aunts and uncles, mother-in-law Lucille Sprowl and siblings, Fern Wine, Ruth Bishop, Guy Baker, Mary Baughman and Doris Runucci in June of 2009 and Floyd Baker in September of 2009.

Wayne not only leaves behind his wife and dog, but sisters, Penina Okel Baker of Wooster, Anna Lee (Charles) Bailey of Rittman and brother Clarence Baker of Rittman, Father-n-law Russel Sprowl, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and Robert Uhl of Orriville that was like Wayne's son for many years.

Wayne had no biological children of his own but he had been like a father not only to Robert, but to his family, especially his youngest sister Okel and her two children Heather Fleming Tackett and Adam Fleming.

Wayne had a great abundance of love for many people, that called him husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. Wayne was a good, loving son and caregiver of his parents during his life. Wayne was the type of person anyone could go to for advise and helped many people.

God blessed Wayne's parents and family with a very special man when he was placed in their lives.

Friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM at Roberts Funeral Home-Hillcrest Chapel in Seville, Ohio. Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 2 PM at the funeral home.
