SALT LAKE CITY, UT - LaRue Duncan Blackley, 86, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2001 in Ogden, Utah.

Born March 31, 1915 in Woodland, Utah the daughter of James and Martha Wilgus Duncan. Grew up and attended school in the Wasatch Valley. Married Farris Don Blackley on January 4, 1932, in Coalville, Utah. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death in May of 1982.

LaRue worked for most of her life as a nurse. She belonged to the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and served as president of her local chapter. She was a member of the LDS Church, giving much service and dedication to her callings including service in the Salt Lake Temple.

During the 1960's, LaRue and husband Don spent several years, and many hours enjoying boating and king salmon fishing in the Seattle area. Some of her favorite times were enjoying the outdoors and traveling which included extended visits to Scotland, Europe and Australia. Reading was a passion for her. She enjoyed listening to quality music. But, most of all she enjoyed being with her family. She loved her children, and her grandchildren were the joy of her life.

She is preceded in death by husband Don; two grandsons Perry McEwan and James Blackley; four sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include her three sons Thurman D. (Kathy); F. Duane (Lois); Bobby D. (JoAnn); daughter Nina LaRue Gregg; and sister Barbara (Walter) Evans. Also, survived by 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchil-dren, and two great-great-grand-children.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 28, 2001, 11 a.m. at Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home, 288 North Main Street, Heber City. Friends may call one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Heber City Cemetery.
